UmSonti Forest Lodge – a declared national tree fern heritage farm -- is without doubt one of the most picturesque and beautiful destinations in South Africa and offers idyllic surroundings for flyfishing, nature hikes and mountain bike outrides.
The self-catering farm house is situated in the largest man-made forest in the world, just outside the beautiful town of Sabie and on the doorstep of the Kruger National Park and all the other fascinating attractions on the escarpment and in the Lowveld. Here one find peace of mind alongside a beautiful fountain water lake brimming with brown and rainbow trout and surrounded by 60 year old pine forests, clear spring water streams with waterfalls and rock swimming pools.
UmSonti means “yellow wood” which is the predominant indigenous tree found in the area. The farm boasts a number of great features including small antelope and an abundance of birds as well as breathtaking scenery.
The Lodge is a charming farmstead in beautiful treed gardens and peaceful surrounds. It can accommodate up to ten persons in three bedrooms and a bunker room for kids. It has a comfortable kitchen, lounge and dining room and the spacious stoeps and braai area make for perfect outdoor relaxation. It is fully equipped for self-catering and has two lock-up garages. Guests have free use of four mountain bikes and helmets. The log-barbeque chalet with sundeck and float at the lake is available at R200 per day per group if pre-booked (no accommodation in cabin, only day rental). PETS WELCOME
